ANDORRA, Apr 22, 2004/ FW/ --- That evening I was watching a talent show on a British TV station. A darling young woman performed a song.

She was wearing low-cut bell-bottoms, a piece of jewelry in her belly button and a blouse similar to the one I had tried on earlier in the day.

Her blouse was missing the bottom button.

An “Ah Ha!” went off in my mind – the missing button was to allow one’s belly button to be seen, to shine ala Britney Spears.

So much for being fashion forward... I guess my head has been in the books for too long.

When I think back to my very first date, my mother must have been horrified. I wore a pair of “hip huggers” as we called them back then, with my belly button in full view, and a crop top with bell sleeves.

Now at this age, I have to decide, “Do I want to buy that belly button blouse?”

Time to start doing sit-ups…or perhaps I should buy a belly-button-star like those of Dr. Suess’ Star-bellied Sneetches.
