PARIS, May 17, 2005/ FW/ --- After the Vertigo holloware collection, Andrée Putman has once again put her creative talents to work for Christofle with a first sterling silver jewelry line.
The collection is done entirely in 925 sterling silver, the most pure of all silvers.
Around 1830, founder Charles Christofle took over Hugues Calmette’s jewelry business and considerably developed its activities, and particularly in the exportations markets.
In 1845, he created Charles Christofle et Compagnie and made silver the basis of a business that would make his name known the world over. From events leading from the end of the July Monarchy to the eve of the First World War, Christofle had forged itself the reputation of being the most important silver house in France on both a commercial and social scale, and it flawlessly represented French elegance abroad.
Today, the house is still regarded as one of the world’s finest in matters of home, office and fine dining accessories. However, the house is getting back to its roots and is again developing its jewellery line and with great enthusiasm.
The collection is elegant and appeals to silver lovers over a wide range of generations. Due to timeless sophistication, the new collection is quietly, yet quickly attracting the attention of the top fashion editors and stylists who are rushing to Christofle’s Paris headquarters for pieces for their fashion spreads.
A symbol of love and of faithfulness down through the centuries, the ring is the anchoring point for this line. Not really round, not really elongated, neither flat nor curved, it stands out mastering space, whether it adorns earlobes or encircles the neck.
Available in the necklaces, pendants, brooches, bracelets, hoop or chain earrings, rings and cufflinks, this silver ring adds brilliant, simply elegant flashes to the silhouette.
The masterpiece “Tendeur” necklace takes its inspiration directly from a bicycle, while the “Vase” pendant transforms according to its wearer’s wishes into a crouch, a refined touch on a jacket collar or a go-anywhere vase for romantics.
The Christofle jewelry collection brings together the timeless and the ephemeral, the contemporary and the classic, glamour and elegance, all nestled in new jewellery cases in warm tones.
