MILAN, Jul 21, 2005 – The luxury travel good specialists Louis Vuitton launches its first permanent collection of sunglasses.
The twelve-piece collection designed by Marc Jacobs remains loyal to the Vuitton life long tradition and philosophy of elegance and magnificence.
Not only has the house invested two years of research into the project, but also the Vuitton sunglasses are not produced under sublicense, as is generally the case when developing sunglasses for today’s market hence adding even further to their uniqueness.
Consequently the initial six female frame, two male frame and two unisex frame collection will be available exclusively in Louis Vuitton stores around the globe from November this year.
‘The approach to creating this collection of sunglasses has been no different to the approach used to create a jacket or bag: for example, the attention to details closely related to the distinctive elements present in the world of Vuitton like the zips, the trademark brown and the gold Monogram Louis Vuitton and the Damier design. We wanted to take into consideration every aspect of the glasses, like the shapes that create an ‘iconic’ quality….’ Mark Jacobs
Symbolism exclusive to the Vuitton trademark has been incorporated in the architecture itself, from the famous ‘S-lock’ closure, the floral Monogram on the upper and inside frames along with the engraved LV logo used on the more discreet metal frames.
The tight knit collaboration from the worlds greatest optical specialists from the Jura region in France to the production of a new Zeiss lens studied exclusively for the house guarantees not only the finest quality but also 100% protection to the eyes.
The new must have technically advanced sunglasses inspired by Film Noir and romanticism are not only hand made but are assured to become more precious as time passes, just like the bags that have made the Louis Vuitton label precious.
