MILAN, Jul 31, 2005/ FW/ --- As Milan temperature rises with the advent of summer of 2005, the Spring / Summer 2006 collections look hip and hot though it is not measured by the Celsius or Fahrenheit scales.
Themes for Next Summer:
The basic themes seen on the runway was Aviation, Yachting and Young Opulence. These were
displayed by many designers using Aviation as a concept of man exploring and reaching their
next level in life.
Etro showed this not really through their clothes, but through the concept of men exploring
different fashions that included non-masculine colors and prints and a more sleek style for
the label.
Iceberg and Byblos did more of a fighter pilot of the early 1900’s complete with bomber
jackets and cargo slacks.
Yachting and vacationing is always a reoccurring theme each spring/summer. Valentino stated
it best with his show theme of “Memory of Capri”.
Valentino chose to select some of his own fashions worn in the 70’s from his fabulous trips
to Capri with his star-studded celebrity friends who lived fashionably while cruising the
seas.
Very short boy shorts and smart cardigans in Valentino red and cream were featured.
Young Opulence is a theme that is not often used and this season it was seen from Trussardi
to Burberry.
This theme included beautiful fabrics and vibrant colors which steamed from a luxuriously
leisure lifestyle. It is not rare to see the Milanese youth with a periwinkle sweater tied
around their necks over a clean white oxford shirt paired with a light pink trouser with a
sock less loafer.
This is the opulence that made Florence and Italy the capital of well-dressed men.
