MILAN, Aug 1, 2005/ FW/ --- Men must not be afraid of any colours next summer. The runways were full of vibrant yellows,
pinks, reds and oranges.
Jasper Conran presented nice tangerines and striped watermelons on his jumpers and shirts.
Ozwald Boateng through out so many nice colors of marine aqua blue in a prima silk cotton which gave it a nice shine. Along with the aviation looks, there were muted more neutral colors such as pale green, desert sand khaki and ash grey.
Prints were on the scene as well for next season.
Seersucker is the new old gem for next season not only seen in the traditional blue and white
stripe, butalso with a tan and white as well.
Very colourful as usual, Paul Smith played with his usual pinks and floral patterns on men’s
suit linings of pink flowers and green ivy leaves.
Etro created their signature plaids, which were more subtle on scarves and neckties.
Trussardi and Fendi did simple chain lock prints reminiscent of many nautical artifacts.
Fabrics:
Fabrics for spring/summer 2007 are just as snazzy as many of the themes and shows.
Cashmere is all the rage for traditional cardigans and throw over sweaters. Many winter
fabrics such as wool were made into a lighter version specified for summer.
These summer wools were seen on pinstripe suits and more casual forms of business attire.
Linen, which is a summer staple, was less visible on the runways due the presence of the short
that is taking over what the trouser use to be.
These shorts are made in more of a flat front chino cotton that give men an all day effortless
wrinkle free look.
Voile and basic forms of cotton and cotton blends were seen on poplin shirts. Indigo denim
is the new old art piece revamped, which is darker and heavier weight.
This is more of the trend since from the late 90’s denim giants have done every wash possible
known to man.
Silk and faux rayon synthetic blends are making a comeback for night which were seen on many men’s tuxedos and lapels of blazers and cummerbunds.
