MILAN, Aug 2, 2005/ FW/ --- The silhouettes were the least enthused for next summer but the
accessories seen were cool and hip.
Many boyish silhouettes were made anew by teaming knickers or shorts with blazers.
Everything had a vacation feel, which made many of the looks loose and relaxed fit.
Designers are saying comfort is more important nowadays in these high pressure times.
The overall basics of the season said that youth and fun is the new snobbiness of tomorrow.
Accessories:
Main accessories seen were the comeback of the sleeveless sweater vest from the 80’s.
Another main throwback from the 80’s was the silk backing front point suit vest without
the suit jacket.
DSquared did a wonderful denim backless version yet cropped short in the front.
The 80’s must rule because the other hip trend was to team a cumber bond with jeans for
a day look. These cummerbunds were made smaller and more like waistbands.
Aviator shades in different mirror fronts compliments every look. Men eyewear is becoming
more feminine and more extravagant in size and details.
Hats were really missed among the Milanese designers and were limited to a few short
brimmed Panama hats which were not even mentionable.
Bags were in full force much bigger and in more dynamic colours. These bags are useful for
travel as well as for everyday city usage.
The fun shapes and more sporty, yet sleek bags will give any man that edge. Pony hair
is to be not only on shoes but to adore your man purse as well.
Shoes made silent statements with a more round toe pointy front. Sandals were minimalistic
and less noticeable.
The flip flop was not at all over done for next season hence the open toe thick cross band
leather sling back is taking over.
Etro kept the lead with the most colourful trainers of purple, red and apple green.
Neil Barrett for Puma is doing his own thing with a running theme showcasing many silver
and gold metallic with basic hints of cream and white on trainers.
There you have it the fabulous trends for next spring/summer. It is best to go ahead and get signed up for the waiting list for your over sized designer summer bags next season.
