DALLAS, Nov 15, 2005/ FW/ --- Flirty tops and feminine dresses, snug-fitting jackets and hip-hugging jeans – Walter’s signature looks had been seen being worn by Paris Hilton, Molly Sims and Rosario Dawson.
Describing his eponymous women’s line, Walter Baker, CEO and Chief Designer says, “My clothes tend to attract uptown girls with a downtown sensibility.”
Baker who readily accepts that his two teen-age daughters are his ‘live-in editors’ and help him redefine ‘hip,’ never leaves home without his digital camera and notebooks, always looking for inspiration.
He might be on the streets or in the clubs of London, or he might be hanging out at the beach or a bar in the southern Mediterranean, put all these very different influences together and come up with an artful mix of urban and exotic, which gives his creations the edge.
So, for Spring / Summer 2006, he proposes a very tailored white slim cut walking shorts paired with a three-button short-cropped ¾ sleeved jacket; then change gear to a floral sundress ruched on the bodice, then finished with spaghetti straps.
Walter dresses the metro girl, the jet setter, the girl-next-door and the college coed. She can be a New York socialite or a Junior Leaguer from Iowa. She can be one of the Hollywood glitterati, or a Dallas debutante.
In short, Walter transcends the accepted demographics. So, it is really not surprising that the label is sold nationwide at prestigious retailers like Henri Bendel, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.
