MILAN, Mar 17, 2006/ FW/ --- The accessories that were previewed during the catwalk show for both the men and women’s collection by Gianfranco Ferré is just an appetizer in a manner of speaking.

The whole bag collection for both men and women bears the unmistakable distinctive hallmarks of the Ferré style.

Broken down into multiple themes, but at the same time, still remains extremely coherent in the way it highlights the bags’ attributes in terms of genuine practicality and performance.

Each component group has been designed to function as a collection within the collection, covering the widest possible range us use occasions – from day to evening, from city to leisure situations – and set up a play of assonance with a not less rich series of collateral accessories, such as belts, gloves and small leather items.

If in a certain way the appeal is immediate, spontaneous and casual, the impression of uniqueness and originality is generated in particular by the fine craftsmanship of the details and the elaboration of the materials, which is constantly based on a rationale showcasing bold mixes of different elements such as leather and fabric, high-tech fibers and luxury materials.

Women’s bags

Each category – from the city bags with the double or single handles to shoulder-strap models, from the saddle bag to the sack style – features constructed and yet soft shapes and important dimensions, in keeping with the overarching principle of performance and practicality.

In a natural interplay between material and form, it is often the intrinsic nature of the former that determines the latter.

A sort of alchemical prescription ensures that in the case of every single bag the body, base, handles, flaps and trim are rendered in the same mix of materials but employed in every-changing configurations for an exceptional variety: leather and cowhide that’s been washed, polished or embossed with crocodile and floral patterns; cordura and nylon; shiny calfskin; suede; felt; velvet, both smooth and ribbed (corduroy), embroidered and printed; genuine crocodile and tejus.

The chromatic horizon is no less rich and evocative; black and white; black-brown, coffee, chocolate and mud; bright red, wine and burgundy; purple, lavender and aubergine; ivory, cognac and camel; deep blue and bottle green.

Men’s bags

The functional requirements determined by business, leisure and travel occasions are all addressed by a varied selection of bag categories that range from briefcases to carry-on bags and small leather goods.

The materic definition associates high-tech textures and high-strength nylon with luxury leathers such as crocodile- or lizard-embossed calfskin, used primarily for the details.

The finishing details – the handles and important grips, as well as the elements in nickel-plated metal – evoke the time-honored values of fine craftsmanship.

In the color palette, black and coffee brown are used alternatively with khaki and a rich chocolate tone.
