PARIS, Jul 10, 2006/ FW/ --- Sportive and elegant, Graeme Black combined the old world charm with modern aesthetics with the Spring / Summer 2007 Salvatore Ferragamo collection.
Shoes have soft, drawn out silhouettes with wafer-thin soles for more fluid fits, the construction is so lightweight; you think that you are walking on air.
The line is blurred between formal and casual wear, as details like tiny contrasting stitching and the use of color blocks that play with the shadow and shading are seen in laced up models and slip-ons.
Traditional Salvatore Ferragamo craftsmanship is converged with advances in technology of leather treatment and new fabrics. As a result, flip-flops and sandals with unique horn details over crossed leather strips can take the wear and tear of the elements from sand to salt water.
Wicker accessories on the moccasins, simple leather straps, fringes with retro-style tassels give the shoes a chic and laid-back feel.
That feeling is evoked once again on the totes and bags, though the lines are sharper, cleaner and more modern.
Waxed technical canvas for sacks and bags that carry elegance out to sea have the ‘Salvatore Ferragamo’ signature metal plates.
Seafaring touches, such as snap hooks from sails and bits of cord, given the Salvatore
Ferragamo logo. Details that betray a natural vocation for luxury and evoke yacht clubs where sport is serious but also modish.
