DALLAS, Jun 4, 2007/ FW/ --- --- If Cesare Paciotti enticed the ladies to renounce formality in favor of style, his vision for men’s shoes is creative yet commercial, alternative yet conventional.
Generally, it is believed that women are picky with their shoes. That is true of course. What very few people know is that men are very meticulous about their footwear, more than what they want to admit openly and more than want women want to accept.
The truth of the matter is, other than sports shoes, men’s formal footwear always verges on the classic styles, and hence what we usually see is the ‘general’ shape and form. But, not with Cesare Paciotti who gives men’s shoes the same attention he gives to women’s shoes, i.e., creativity and alternative styles.
Take the ankle boots for instance. Proposed in different leather from suede to soft leather to snakeskin, Paciotti added a minute logo and/or a gothic cross that was then outlined with rounded grommets.
The formal laced shoe in patent leather was beaded with crystal, and silver ankle boots displays leather that had been stamped with a gothic inspired graphic. The slip-ons were also given that ‘stamped’ graphic, almost invisible, yet it is there.
And of course, the sports shoes, runners actually, were done in tone on tone leather and polyester, giving it a futuristic look, something that even Nike and Reebok would be envious of.
By offering alternative styling based on classic shapes, Cesare Paciotti found the perfect balance for creativity and commercial viability.
