DALLAS, Jun 6, 2007/ FW/ --- Season after season, Antonio Marras display the wide spectrum of his vision for Kenzo as he incorporates the maison’s signature looks with his own aesthetics creating a collection that is entirely his own but definitely Kenzo.
This quality is readily seen in the ready-to-wear collection and amplified with the handbags that are true complements for the clothes and still be appreciated on their own.
Take the rectangular sac for instance - rounded at the bottom, then tapers gently towards the top, and a woven handle for finishing. When proposed in embossed leather with pink floral prints, it’s romantic.
Duplicating the effort in black, with different shades of gray for the floral print, it turns very modern and edgy.
Marras, who understands the emotion of color is not afraid to experiment and push the envelope, thus a small change in any of the elements produce an entirely different effect.
As the Sardinian-born designer had said, ‘Designing for Kenzo is very emotional.’ And this strong feelings he has is translated into every item he creates, thus poignancy becomes part of it. Whoever sees and picks up the bag is affected and touched.
It’s not just the prints that one could feel the poignancy. It is also exhibited in the more modern interpretation like the black bag with double handles that is cinched at the top. Decorated with flat grommets in different sizes of silver circles, it is reminiscent of the medieval times yet almost futuristic due to the metallic element.
Handbags, sacs, totes and traveling bags, Antonio Marras once again found that sweet spot where the multi-cultural qualities of Kenzo meet and live in harmony with each other.
