Ana Kuzmanic: Asymmetrical Chic
Photos by: Edward James
Apr 24, 2002/ FW/ --- Looking almost futuristic at times, the Ana Kuzmanic's debut collection
at New Labels is a study of non-symmetry.
Opening with a green wool jacket matched with green leather skirt (both with asymmetrical hems,
of course), the designer set the tone for the whole collection.
For fall, Kuzmanic’s line was inspired by the purity, simplicity and precision of the work
of artist Hans Arp, a Franco-Swiss sculptor, painter and poet.
"She combined the curves of the human form with geometry of the clothes to create
a balance of sexy and delicate, but at the same time strong," wrote Doris Montanera,
reviewer for TFI about Ana Kuzmanic's show.
Memorable pieces in the collection include the sleeveless red matte jersey dress with
a turtleneck and asymmetric hem.
With the unique looks in the collection, Daniel of Salon Daniel also created a very
unique hairstyle - "conical," giving a futuristic feel, yet not looking sci-fi.
