DALLAS, Dec 12, 2003/ FW/ --- The revolving door of designers keeps on moving at Anne Klein.
Michael Smaldone, (Photo at left) who showed his first and only collection (Spring 2004), for the fashion house moved to Anne Taylor as Senior Vice President of Design one day after the Anne Klein runway show last September in New York.
Smaldone who headed the AK Anne Klein division was promoted to Chief Designer, replacing Charles Nolan who left the company after presenting his Fall 2003 collection for a career in politics.
Though Smaldone might have had a very short stint, we will still his designs on store shelves come springtime.
According to Smaldone, the Anne Klein women should be on the sexy side with a little bit of leather sans lace come springtime. And most importantly, she should wear the Anne Klein bra all the time!
Liya Kebede looked smashing in an all white pantsuit set. The trousers were body hugging and the ¾ length sleeves blouse had a standing Nehru collar.
It was a great looking outfit, with one big eyesore – the keyhole neckline was so low that the bra was showing. And, that sums up the whole collection.
There were some very beautiful pieces that included Angela Lindvall’s white dress with basket weaving on the side hinting of skin, but really very sexy. But then again, the V-neckline was opened so low that you can see her bra!
Let’s hope that this was just drama for the runway and the garments which will finally reach the store shelves will be a little bit more demure so that women do not have to go around showing off their undergarments.
Like what I said, there were really a lot of beautiful pieces, which would be great additions to a woman’s wardrobe.
