Atil Kutoglu: Breezy Style Aesthetics
By Shaun J. Wright

Atil Kutoglu NEW YORK, Sep 12, 2005/ FW/ --- With no hint of mimicking the past few seasons, ode to primness or the looming somber mood pushing into fashion's psyche, Atil Kutoglu stood strongly by his breezy style aesthetic from start to finish.

Opening the show was the charitable Naomi Campbell (she's donating her earnings from every show this season to victims of Hurricane Katrina) in a men's cut blazer and Bermuda shorts.

Her long hair was styled in a disheveled ponytail, accenting the casual-chic of the half tucked shirt/decadent high heel combination.

Although Ottomania was the title of the show, stripes were the reigning motif of the collection showing up on cotton poplin day dresses, beautifully sequined Capri pants, and crushed silk asymmetrical caftans.

Ottoman print athletic wear also made an appearance in a turquoise cotton-silk blend hooded top and matching shorts.

Some stand out pieces included a multi-hued striped sequin bolero with exaggerated sleeves and a sleeveless gold silk brocade coatdress.

A multi-color ombre silk dress worn by Ms. Naomi conjured the heyday of Studio 54. But this was in no way a retro moment or collection. Atil Kutoglu designs contemporary clothes tinged with traditional Turkish fashion, creating an effective blend of unpretentious elegance and modern grace.
