NEW YORK, Sep 18, 2006/ FW/ --- It is very important to have the proper pieces in your closet for yachting and vacationing. Not too many designers present a cruise collection as their main collection for Spring, but this concept worked well for Kutoglu.
Atil Kutoglu is all about the proper attire for the aristocrat who sails. This Turkish native has been dressing Austrian royalty for many years. As Atil has adopted Austria as a home, he still holds on to his countryside Turkish roots.
Like many other designers from un-luxurious beginnings, Atil is able to adapt more easily to different settings and create a lifestyle that is appealing to many.
Many of Atil's pieces were coordinating from his off the shoulder tops to his light-suede ash coats. His kidskin jam pants and belted long skirts were a direct image from Ralph Lauren.
There is a direct parallel between the two designers in many ways, but they are appealing to two different markets through the same idea.
Splashes of red on pleated skirts stated sailing by day. Aqua blue sequins party dresses with striped tailing kaftans are for night deck parties. Pleated and scalloping sleeves were small details that completes Kutoglu signature on garments. The honeydew pink satin-stripped column dress was fitting to end the show.
Atil Kutoglu is a designer that can take you from Cape Verde to Cape Cod through day and night.
