DALLAS, Nov 17, 2003/ FW/ --- B Michael’s signature style of “making a great basic dress look glamorous,” was all over his Spring 2004 collection presented last September in New York.
Entitled “Always Wear Joy,” the collection was lighthearted and sweet, with the expected hubris coming from a very beautiful woman.
The “Kaleidoscope Gown” was both the opening piece and crowning glory of this collection. Sewn together from fourteen fabrics consisting of fifty pieces, it exemplified B Michael’s juxtaposition of creativity with simplicity.
Body hugging, with spaghetti straps, the hemline reaching the floor, the Kaleidoscope Gown is unadorned. The colors are its only adornment. With a great cut and masterful tailoring, the gown is a definite stand out.
As expected, B Michael’s best pieces are the ‘simple’ yet elegant dresses – white fringe seamed dress in double face wool crepe and the navy fluted hem dress, again in doule faced wool crepe.
The designer also highlighted his millinery prowess, sending adorable hats on the runway.
New this season is his handbag collection where he just signed a new licensee to produce. Simple and elegant are the same words to describe the bags, and they are a definite extension of B Michael’s signature style.
