New York, October 21, 2001/ FW/ --- There was something for every woman at B Michael's show.

There was a tinge of French, a tinge of clean-cut American, a little bit of the roaring 20s, and little bit of the debutante and the prom queen. In short, the inspiration were women from all walks of life.

The make-up used was something you can wear! Eyes were emphasized with lengthening mascara, natural eyebrows line and light eyeshadow. A little bit of blush and those luscious lips in different shades of red!

Yes, red lips is back again! After 5 seasons, they are back on the runway and this coming Spring, expect to see it on the streets!

Here's some tips to apply red lipstick:

  1. Use foundation to create a flawless skin tone, even on the lips. Foundation is indispensable to precise application and long lasting results.
  2. Choose between matte or shiny lipstick. The approriate finish depends on the shape of the mouth and the effect that is desired. If you want refined, delineated lips, shiny tones will play them up and give them a sensual look.
  3. For a fleshier, pouty effect, matte is ideal: sexy without looking slutty.
  4. Matte tones are recommended for day wear, shiny ones for night. You can experiment and modify each by blotting shiny lipstick with a tissue, or adding a little colorless gloss to a matte color.
  5. A quick trick to check that your chosen red is the right one for your skin tone is to test it directly on your lips rather than on the back of your hand: The pigmentation in each of these places is very different.
  6. For a well-defined mouth, use a lipliner which is the same color as your lipstick. Smudge lightly inward to obtain a natural effect. Use a lip brush to apply the color. Start by applying to the middle gently - to the outer corners. For a finished effect, "blot" your lips by biting your lips on a paper napkin to get rid of excess.
  7. The last thing to do - SMILE!
