NEW YORK, Feb 3, 2006/ FW/ --- Back at the tents this season, Kimora Lee Simmons’ hip hop label ‘Baby Phat’ had a very eclectic inspiration this season that echoed the diversity of its fans.
From opulent fur coats to pillbox hats, to Grecian style dressing and molded shoulder caps of Roman gladiators, to bustier and lingerie inspired hot pants and skirts, Baby Phat forayed into sexiness that is overt and evident.
Denim jeans were relaxed while dress pants were slim and leg hugging while mini dresses were architecturally structured and resembles the flight attendant uniforms of the 1960s.
The silhouette was slim with the shoulder and waist emphasized. But, there was no coherent message in the collection except for the unconcealed sexuality.
One thing is sure; Baby Phat fans will have a lot to choose from when this collection hit the stores this fall if they are looking for sexy outfits and for direction.
But, if there was no evident theme on clothing, the accessories surely made up for it. Stacked heel boots and 1930s inspired shoes, plus totes and handbags all bearing the Baby Phat logo.
And of course the ubiquitous mobile phone! After all, the show is sponsored by Motorola, its logo projected on the wall the whole time.
