NEW YORK, Sep 17, 2005/ FW/ --- Kimora Lee Simmons’ Baby Phat is still the Queen of hip-hop clothes as proven by her Spring / Summer 2006 collection wherein she went for the gold literally.

Sending over 50 looks on the runway, models with big hair paraded in sexy golden togs that makes one think of Cleopatra circa 2006.

From cute minis to Capri-length pants, Kimora Lee Simmons stayed with her signature style of sexy, figure enhancing looks that girls from 14-24 will love!

But, there is also a certain level of restraint in this collection, the designer opting for very few accessories, allowing the clothes to do the talking.

When you’re the ‘sole’ label for a niche market, it is easy to go over the top and not worry about the bottom line. But, with the entrance of Rocawear, another hip-hop label, Kimora Lee Simmons found herself defending her market share.

And with this collection, she made sure that all the hip-hop fashionistas will go to her. She also expanded her target market by sending red carpet worthy gowns, also in gold of course.

Probably just for fun, Kimora Lee Simmons also sent red, black & white and some floral prints on the runway.

But this will always be referred to as the ‘golden collection’ literally and figuratively because this is the best one yet to come out of the Baby Phat atelier.
