NEW YORK, Mar 6, 2002/ FW/ --- Kicking off the GenArt's group show at 7th on Sixth,
Alicia Bell presented a 19th century inspired collection for Fall 2002.
"I got my inspiration from Alice in Wonderland," Alicia Bell told FWD
And it was Alice in Wonderland, except that she had grown up!
Fitted jackets, slacks and pencil skirts were trimmed with thick satin strips. Oversized
button, ribbon-hemmed frocks and fanciful ruffled cuffs dominated the show.
The 19th century fairy tale character grew up in the 21st century!
Alice was no longer 12, she was 21. It's about time though!
Two centuries of growing up made her into a very beautiful and confident young woman who
is sure of her sexuality.
And that also defines the Alice Bell woman - feminine, a little bit flirty, traipsing
in the 21st century.
But don't let the ruffles and the ribbons fool you. The Alice Bell is sure of herself.
She still attends tea-parties and meets the Mad Hatter, but she is like her sisters of
the new millennium - a modern woman.
