Born William Ralph Blass, Bill Blass took his nickname to launch his eponymous fashion house in 1970 that will go down in history as true American sportswear and design.

Offering modern, sophisticated and tailored clothing for women executed in the finest fabrics made Bill Blass a household word in the U.S. and in the world.

Working as its Creative Director for 30 years, Bill Blass took the label and company to its zenith until his retirement in 2000. He passed away in 2002, a sad time for the fashion world losing one of its great talents.

The company was sold to its current owners, Michael Groveman and Harresh Tharani.

Since Bill Blass retirement, Lars Nilsson took the helm, followed by Michael Vollbracht who is currently the artistic director of the house.
