NEW YORK, Sep 15, 2003/ FW/ --- The invitation for the Body Gear show that Quinto & Co. sent
by courier was simple, and almost nondescript.
So, when I sat down to see the show last Saturday afternoon, I did not know what to
expect. It turned out to be one of the most pleasant surprises for the weekend at the tents.
Designer Christiun Urquijo started the show with his swimwear line for both men and women,
sending male and female models on the runway with matching outfits that can be worn everywhere,
from the South of France to Australia's coral reefs to the pristine beaches of Hawaii.
And just when I was thinking that he will only show swimwear, Christiun Urquijo sent a very
sensous outerwear collection on the runway.
Utilizing the traditional art of crochet, knitting and macrame, Christiun Urquijo created
pantsuits, mini skirts, and body hugging tea dresses which can be worn on top of your swimwear.
With these outfits, you can go straight from the beach to shopping, lunch even dinner!
And if you are like me who thought that crochet, knits and macrame were for our grandmas,
wait till you see the Body Gear line, it will change your mind, because it surely changed mine.
The designer quoted, "Bodygear's new and innovative textiles push the envelope in fashion design
to create new looks that have never been viewed before."
He forgot to mention that the looks are simply beautiful, almost erotic in its simplicity!
Christiun Urquijo proved that "showing less skin can be as sexy as revealing silhouttes."
