Byblos: Sexy, Sultry, Femme Fatale

MILAN, Feb 25, 2004/ FW/ – Poolside Hollywood divine, the 1970’s tuxedo is reinvented and the post-modern futuristic trek begins, the Byblos woman is the sexy and sultry femme fatale spy kind, so watch out, its going to be a steamy fall 2004/05.

A soundtrack of 1980’s classics saw even the stalest of fashionista tapping their feets and mouthing the words. Inspired by the 70’s film ‘The eyes of Laura Mars’ starring Faye Dunaway, these seductive slinky cats wore almost exclusively black with precise flickers of silver, English lawn green and electric blue.

A collection that is not for the uncertain, as thin and provocative take on new meanings through elongated bodices, ribbing and cut outs that reveal sumptuous flesh.

Positively aggressive, the strictly female silhouette in reworked tuxedo jackets, often sleeveless, mini tails are moved to the front for decoration, plunging V’s seep low and waists are belted, all tailored decisively for the Byblos woman.

Shoulders are important and exaggerated with puffed sleeves, bat wings and stiff shoulder pads extending past the shoulder. In towering studded stilettos, these strong minded ‘Girls on Film’ are determined to succeed in their mission, whatever it may be.

Netting, lace, jersey and luxurious fox fur in contrasting forms of matt and shine are fabrics for her urban wardrobe.

At ease in the dark and shadows, photographers’ flashes are her perfume bathing the skin in contrasting white light while mirrored sunglasses and straight spaghetti hair keep her identity safe.

Myler, Citron and Piaggi succeed once again in creating a collection that women desire, a uniform for the stronger of the two sexes, now who is wearing the pants?
