MILAN, Jan 21, 2006/ FW/ --- While Anglomania raged in Milan, Byblos begged to differ creating a collection based on rock & roll designed for a non-conformist, yet refined man.
Before you start thinking Mick Jagger and Rod Stewart, erase that from your thoughts immediately. Byblos’ take is lighthearted and clean cut; no vintage shopping here.
Rather, materials and accessories were chosen with extreme care and erudition. Silhouettes are easy going, trousers are lean, even leg hugging; suit jackets are slim with rounded shoulders, while knitted sweaters become bomber jackets with fur peaking at the collars.
And Byblos’ nod to Anglomania – Prince of Wales and English checks, very masculine choice of fabrics, including chevrons and pied de poule weaves with defined lines.
Must have accessory is the reporter bag, big enough to carry a tablet PC and portable hard drives the same size a PDA wherein the music they composed are stored. Made of lizard, crocodile skin and pow hens, they are a statement of luxury unto themselves.
Suspenders are also back, paired with carpenter pants that have been reworked and restyled to be functional, contemporary and sophisticated. The Byblos rock chic is as far from the Seattle grunge as it can be.
Choosing warm tones of navy, ebony, green and gray as its color palette, it is also very colorful, without the Byblos gent turning into a peacock.
Modern and modish, this collection rocks!
