NEW YORK, Sep 24, 2002/ FW/ --- Brazilian-born designer Carlos Miele created
a multimedia production to introduce his Spring 2003 line.
With professional dancers on the runway,
video projections, and a "bossatronic" beat, Miele's spectacle was part
fashion show, part performance art, part Carnival celebration.
Accessorized by tall headresses and feathered armbands, models sashayed in
a parade of ultra sexy getups that would turn even the most jaded heads.
There was a lot of skin to be seen, with jeans cut excrutiatingly low,
slits cut high, and necklines plunging.
Explosive color and shapes from
nature played a big part as denim was shreaded to form leaves and authentic
seashells trimmed jeans and strappy tanks.
Dresses and blouses were made
from lovely multi-color floral print chiffon.
And in what's turning out to
be a major trend for spring, assymmetry proved important and worked
particularly well in the grey silk chiffon sequined dress.
The use of
embroidered lace, sequined patchwork, and irridescent appliques only
amplified Miele's dynamic stylings.
Throw in some macrame halter tops,
denim bikinis, and a few green metallic mesh pieces, and what you have is a
collection that is as comfortable center stage as it is on the dancefloor.
Well, maybe a dance floor in Rio, that is.
