DALLAS, Dec 3, 2003/ FW/ --- Brazilian-born designer Carlos Miele is a superstar in Sao Paolo, creating sexier-than-thou clothing with traditional patchwork, crochet and macramé which is balanced by his use of high tech fabrics such as Lycra.
During the Spring 2002 season, he debuted at London Fashion Week; marking his company’s going global.
A year later, during the Spring 2003 season, he showed his collection in New York’s Bryant Park, marking his entry to the U.S. market.
His runway shows are traditionally theatrical, with live music and the clothes are usually overtly sexual.
Last September in New York, he made subtle changes. It was still Carlos Miele, but more artful and astute.
The live drummer was there, and the models walked on his beat. The clothes are still sexy, but this time without the openness. They were more sensual and alluring.
Deep V and keyhole necklines hinted of cleavage, while the flowing garments hugged the bodice, suggested a curvaceous figure.
Los Angeles native Gerren Taylor, the 13-year old latest darling on the runway wore a deceptively simple coral rose dress, adorned with crocheted flowers used as an appliqué.
That dress embodied Carlos Miele’s “Dream Landscape” collection --- a vision of loveliness with a notion of sensuousness.
