Dec 6, 2002/ FWD/ --- Politics isn't the only place where people power counts.
Russian clients making regular retail pilgrimages to Paris to pick up pairs of Christian
Louboutin shoes demanded that the designer open a store in Moscow to whet their footwear
appetites.
It looks like the lobbying paid off, as Louboutin will open a store in the Russian capital
slated to bow sometime in January.
The store, located in Berlin House on Moscow's Petrovka Straas, is nearly 500 square meters
in size according to a Louboutin spokesperson.
The Russian outlet is the result of over two years of sourcing and outfitting a suitable space.
This will be the first time that the French shoe designer's footwear will be sold in Russia,
though the company would not disclose figures for estimated turnover and sales.
The Moscow Louboutin store will be the sixth stand-alone store the company owns after the two
in Paris and one each in London, New York and Los Angeles.
According to a Louboutin spokesperson, the large and successful distribution of the designer's
products in department stores and smaller outlets in Japan means that the company has no current
plans of opening a self-owned store in that country.
