Cynthia Steffe: Backstage Beauties

Apr 3, 2002/ FW/ --- With a collection inspired by 1800s prairie maidens, hair and make-up
should reflect and allure of the old west and also be updated for the technologically advanced
world of the 21st century.
To do that, hair was "slicked-back" and worn on a pony tail, with a little "crimping" to
replace the obiquituos curls of the 1800s.
The result - a modern-day prairie maiden, not to milk a cow, but to attend a board meeting.
For make-up - clear face with very little eye-shadow and lots of mascara to make the lashes
longer.
Light rouge was used to show the "kiss" of the western sun and red lipstick, which was
actually very much en vogue during the 1800s.
For accessories, the "dog collar" was very much in demand, either with silk flowers or a charm.
And of course, where will be at the prairie be without those beautiful hats!
