NEW YORK, Feb 6, 2006/ FW/ --- Preppy, tomboyish with touches of military influence dominated Cynthia Steffe’s Fall 2006 collection presented this afternoon at Bryant Park.
Innocent with a hint of flirtatiousness, Steffe used a combination of canvas, glen plaid, velvet, wool jersey, corduroy, flannel, charmeuse, chiffon, and silk velvet as well as crochet, and knit cardigans.
The color palette came in soft pastels of pinks and blues, various shades of grey and your basic black.
Minimal detailing found in brass-buttoned blazer and shorts, laser-cut flannel skirts, pleated skirts, popcorn cables on some very soft and comfy chunky cardigans to lacy inserts as well as tiny ruffle like trim but just the right amount in all the right places.
Steffe also used just below the knee hosiery and tights to complete that innocent with a mischievous look.
Standouts include the ivory plush crochet cardigan and slip dress with black velvet ribbon insert, the charcoal brigade cardigan over chiffon top in cloud and silver flannel laser-cut skirt, the chiffon empire dress with lace insert in cloud, charcoal boucle bow jacket and baby pink Spence top over black slim pant and finally, the bell dress with allover fortuny.
