NEW YORK, Sep 21, 2002/ FW/ --- For Spring 2003, Cynthia Steffe created a smashing
collection that was inspired by a David Bailey photography book of 60's icons.
With garments having names like "Deneuve dress" and "Bardot tee", it was obvious
who Steffe's muses were for the season.
The baseball jacket was an important
shape, coming in satin and gingham and paired with crochet or flouncy skirts.
There were macrame sundresses and denim cargo capris. Waists were small and
cinched with small corsets.
Delicate embroidery, flirty fringe, and cable lace further emphasized Steffe's attention
to detail.
The big-collared trench coats
were divine, especially the cherry red number with white piping trim.
She also used a technique called "laser striping" which slices the fabric in such a way
as to create texture through striped patterns.
It was a collection that was hip and cool, sweet and feminine all at once.
The front row during Steffe's show was also stellar.
Marcia Gay Harden, Angie Harmon, Ali Landry, Patricia Field and Joan Jett went to see
Steffe's Spring 2003 collection.
With Patricia Field around, don't be surprised to see some Cynthia Steffe's creations
at Sex & The City or at Guiding Light, where Patrica Field is consulting costume designer.
