PARIS, Jul 8, 2005/ FW/ --- One of the most respected names in the haute couture circle, Dominique Sirop continues to woo the younger generation with his creations, making the design and style appeal to the echo boomers and Gen X while still satisfying the baby boomers.
Yesterday, at the Hotel Meurice, the designer’s usual haunt for his runway shows, Dominique
Sirop presented a delectable haute couture collection that the businesswoman and saner side of Paris Hilton will definitely take a second look!
Pinstripe pantsuits that elongates the body, which can easily be worn in the boardroom or a night out in town specially with the scarves that were tied like a bow consisted the daywear.
Fluid gowns that were off the shoulder or worn like a sarong, together with the exquisitely beaded bodice and graphical prints on some will appeal to couture clients of all ages.
Sirop was also forthcoming with fur and feathers, adding more than the usual luxury associated with haute couture.
Beautiful as the collection was, the genius lies in the Paris-based designer’s forward-looking outlook for couture.
Dominique Sirop quietly and surely attracts more clients for haute couture as he puts the
industry’s legendary workmanship and craftsmanship into contemporary silhouettes, making them
mouth-wateringly attractive for the younger generation.
And he is right! According to an American Express survey released early last month, the wealthy members of Gen X who have an average income of $213,000 and spend 18 % more than the Boomers on luxury goods annually, $26,751 compared with $22,631.
This difference is made more significant by the fact that the average income of wealthy Baby Boomers, $222,900, is similar to Gen X.
Now, think of the fabulously wealthy Gen Xers, that 18% difference can be staggering! And Dominique Sirop is making sure that haute couture is ready for them!
