LONDON, Sep 15, 2002/ FW/ ---
Clocking in at well under ten minutes long, the Hamish Morrow Spring/ Summer 2003 presentation
was most likely the shortest show of London Fashion Week.
But it was also one of the best.
Modern day glam rockers will want some of these acid bright pieces, many covered in
Swarovski crystal skeins.
Fabrics included cotton gabardine, silk chiffon, and summer suede.
Florals patterns turned up as embroidery and were printed on metallic jersey.
Morrow mixed textures and created new ones by intricately wrapping the body with d-rings
and pullets.
Hopefully when these pieces hit the shops, there will be directions attached on how
to recreate the runway looks.
Because, for the first time, some of these pieces will go into production.
Historically (during the last four seasons), none of the Hamish Morrow pieces shown
on the runway reach the stores.
Not because no one wanted them, but because the designer was waiting for the right time
to go commercial.
And this time, the time is right.
Some of these pieces will go into production in limited quantities to a handful of
retail outlets which appreciate his aesthetics.
This is good news for the designer's fans who has been waiting to wear his clothes.
All in all, this was definitely not a collection for the faint of heart or diminutive
wallflower but one suspects that these types are not Morrow's customers anyway.
