Kin Yeung is the designer behind the labels Blanc de Chine and Bleu de Chine. The older
of the two labels, Blanc de Chine was established in 1993 in Hong Kong. Already a popular
label in this eastern city, Blanc de Chine's client roster include Jackie Chan.
Bleu de Chine was launched during the New York Fashion Week Spring 2002 season. Its launched
also coincided with the opening of Kin Yeung's flagship store in New York.
The two lines compliment each other. Both are based on the concept of fusing Chinese
asthetics with Western ideas and influences. Both are geared for a contemporary lifestyle.
While Blanc de Chine is meant for the more sophisticated crowd, Bleu de Chine is targeted
for the younger set. Blanc de Chine is for dressing up, while Bleu de Chine is more for
everyday, and to a certain point, "dressing down."
Blanc de Chine uses luxurious European fabrics while Bleu de Chine use modern and high-tech
fabric. Two different target markets, but very similar in the creative process.
Quality workmanship and attention to details characterize Kin Yeung's work.
