Jan 31, 2003/ FW/ --- Hong Kong, a small island off the coast of mainland China.
Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan are their most famous export via Hollywood.
If you take a closer look, Hong Kong is a thriving metropolis and the most
westernized of all the places in China.
It's a business capital, it's a shopping mecca, and also a fashion center in
Southeast Asia.
To bring Hong Kong to the world, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council was
established in 1966.
It is statutory organisation for promoting Hong Kong's external trade in goods and services,
and underline the city's advantages as a global platform and partner for international business.
Tasked with creating and facilitating opportunities in international trade for Hong Kong
companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), two of its objectives
is to (1)Develop and diversify markets for Hong Kong companies and (2) Promote Hong Kong's
products and services in world markets
With an office in New York (one of their 40 offices worldwide) it is not suprising that
the Trade Council traipsed to Bryant Park to promote Hong Kong's emerging designers.
Since the Fall 2001 season, the HKTDC has been showing at Bryant Park, highlighting
Hong Kong's best and brightest in fashion.
