Nov 6, 2001/ FW/ --- The second show by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council for
7th on Sixth featured seven emerging designers from Asia.
Entitled Asian Chic, the show was the east meeting the west, and the goal was to have
a very crisp and modern presentation.
With seven designers and a common vision for the show, the looks has to be interwoven so
that the show would look seamless.
To help achieve that, make-up for the models were the same for all the collections.
Two colors of eyeshadow were used as eyeliners. It reminded of the Yin & Yang eastern
philosophy that says it takes two sides to make a whole.
To put it in scientific terms, for every action, there is an equal opposite reaction. The
Yin & Yang are two opposing sides, but they need each other to exist.
Same with the East and West, the two would not be complete without the other.
Emphasizing the eyes and using "stained lips," the models looked both exotic
and western at the same time. Asian eyes on western faces. Western look for Asian faces.
