Ranee K by Ranee Kok: Timeless & Modern Oriental Styles

A graduate of Parsons School of Design, Ranee Kok debuted her first ‘ranee_k’ collection in New York in 2000. After returning to Hong Kong that year, Kok opened her own shop in Central, offering ‘ranee_k; ‘ranee-k couture’-- a classy, tailor-made line; and ‘The Missing Tomato by ranee k’-- a collection targeting young fashion enthusiasts.

Coming from a background with a Chinese upbringing and Western education, Kok naturally draws on a mélange of cultures in her inspiration. Through her own collection, the designer expresses her views of Chinese culture, while promoting timeless yet modern oriental styles.

On top of giving oriental style a modern twist, Kok focuses on multi-styling and multi-functional designs that can be conjured into variable forms. The presentation and effect can be highly individualized, depending on the wearer’s imaginative manipulation and the viewer’s own interpretation. //Courtesy of MAFW
