Keita Maruyama -- Sweet, Sweet, Sweets
By: Timothy Hagy

PARIS, Oct 4, 2002/ FW/ --- There was a sweet lightness to this charming collection from Keita Maruyama.

From delicate lace embroidery to simple strap dresses of scalloped chiffon, an Oriental poetry flowed like haiku.

The resulting style was very feminine, and very delicate, elegant yet wearable.

Program notes conveyed a sensual undertone: Japanese sweets / peach / pearl / secret / well-starched bed sheet / an empty lucky charm / a glance of hope on and off / downy hair / earlobe pink

And the collection picked up the same motifs with colors undulating in peach, pearl and olive green.

Fine textures found there way into a black kimono and a wedding gown with a train, as well as pleated skirts with a light Japanese print.

The style was simply charming, and the designer's hand written postscript summed up the morning: Love XXX
