Luca Luca: Feminine Beauty

Apr 7, 2002/ FW/ --- Luca Luca is a favorite by the "ladies who lunch" in Dallas.

I know it is so because every time I pass by its boutique at the very exclusive Highland Park Village Shopping Center in Dallas, valet parking is doing a brisk business.

So, I cannot help myself but take a peek on what will be the Dallas social set will be wearing next fall.

And I was not disappointed!

Luca Luca's Fall 2002 collection represented feminine beauty at its best.

Fluid silhouettes, flowing fabrics, dazzling details and an easy modernity, it's easy to predict that it will be a commercial success, not only in Dallas, but also in Bal Harbour, Chicago and Palm Beach where Luca Luca has stand alone boutiques.

Luca Orlandi was inspired by the classic glamour of old Hollywood and the Swinging 1920s for this collection.

Sexy and understated, the designer took a slice from the American culture known for its freedom from inhibition.

Liya's beige macrame dress, with a plunging neckline and asymmetrical hemline is the flapper girl for the 21st century.

Using a neutral color palette of creams, whites, beiges, grays, silvers and autumal peach, Mr. Orlandi "whitewashed" the traditional black and brights for fall to create an overall sheer and feminine effect.

Plunging necklines, asymmetric hemlines and flowingly flirtatious silhouettes dominated the collection.

Memorable pieces include the floaty white chiffon dress intricately hand-beaded in opulent art-deco motif and the eye-catching swingy skirts.

The designer also modernized the satin vest worn over dresses or with pants and paired with shearling trimmed velvet coats.

This season, Mr. Orlandi also showed an expanded line of Luca Luca accessories - shoes, bags and belts in animal printe, embroidered leather and brocade.

Stilleto boots in leopard-print velvet, open-toe heels, iridescent clutehs, bejeweled sandlas, embossed belts were all sent on the runway to compliment the clothes.

The Luca Luca woman for Fall 2002 is feminine yet strong, fluid yet sleek, sexy yet classic!
