Luca Luca: Romantic Femininity

NEW YORK, Sep 21, 2002/ FW/ --- It was all romatic femininity at the Spring 2003
Luca Luca show.
Everything from the pastel color palette, to the soft
silohuettes, to the fabrication was undeniably lovely.
Every look that was sent down the runway was a monochromatic lesson in mixing textures:
satin with gauze, organza with wool, lace with silk knitting.
Shoulders were bare due to askew necklines.
Dresses had fetching 50's-style shapes: full flirty skirts, cinched
waists, and fitted on top.
Waists became the focal point highlighted with satin
sashes which were accented with big bows.
And the delicate details, embroidery,
ruching, ruffles, only aided in completing each outift without being
overwhelming or subtracting from their prettiness.
Held last Wednesday, the first "official" day of New York Fashion Week at 8:00 PM,
arriving at the Luca Luca show was like finding an oasis from the chaos called fashion week.
Thanks to Selda Gulcan, PR Director for Luca Luca and her staff, the show was very
well-organized.
If you have an invitation and you replied for the RSVP, your name "is" on the guest list, and
the staff knows exactly where you are sitting.
You might say, "No big deal! That's the way it's supposed to be."
Well, nothing is that simple during fashion week. Even if you have an invitation, and you
replied for the RSVP, and you arrive at the venue on time, the chaos that accompany fashion
week does not guarantee anything.
There are exceptions of course, and the Luca Luca show is one of them.
After a gruelling day, and finding my last show to attend that day so well-organized,
with a great collection to boot, the Luca Luca show was truly an oasis in more ways than one.
To Luca Orlandi, thank you for showing a great collection.
Bravo to Selda Gulcan and her staff. They did an amazing job in organizing the show.
