NEW YORK, Feb 11, 2003/ FW/ --- Alright, Luella is still hot, but she seems to be
losing steam.
The British-born designer who won the Elle Young Designer of the Year in 2000
seem to be going back in time.
No, Luella did not build a time machine, she just decided to go back to her high school
days and decided to dress up the hallway fashionistas.
And like high school kids, the attention span is very short --- which unfortunately
showed in the collection.
First, there is the new Annie Hall - geeky, intelligent and with a sense of style.
Then, there are those who will be voted to be 'Most Likely To Be A Lady Who Lunch'.
And third, there is -- all my clothes are in the wash, so I borrowed my older brother's
clothes!
That sums up Luella's Fall 2003 collection.
One good thing about it - all of the pieces are wearable. That's the good news.
The bad news - anyone who is over 25 might have a hard time wearing any of it. She
will look like she went to the Juniors section of the store.
The strongest point during the show is not the clothes but on Luella's new
accessories line which she will launch this fall.
The designer sent patent leather bags with buckle and pocket details, belts and mini-purses
on the runway.
And those will be hits with Luella's loyal fans. Plus, she would get new ones.
