NEW YORK, Feb 9, 2004/ FW / --- With a red backdrop and a red runway, designer Marc Bouwer
proposed last Sunday night what Hollywood’s screen goddesses should wear during the upcoming Academy Awards ceremonies on February 29.
Sexy, glamorous and slinky, all 67 exits in the collection will easily catch the eye of Heidi
Fox, the Fashion Director of AMPAS.
Black lace on white, strapless mini dresses with trains, deep V necklines and low back gowns, thigh-high slits in front, on the back or on the sides --- it was Oscar’s fashion from head to toe.
Marc Bouwer who returns to the tent this season after being on hiatus for at least two, is very eloquent in his message, “glamour is back and women should embrace it.”
From the fully beaded jersey gowns to sequins interlaced with Swarovski crystals, the glitterati had more than enough to choose from in this wonderful line up.
Standouts include Ekaterina’s asymmetrical shoulder white lace gown embroidered with black cashmere yarn made to look like flowers.
And if you’re wondering if there are any furs in this collection, the answer is, there was none.
Bouwer who had been designing with faux fur and pleather for the last 15 years earned the distinction of the only designer having been sponsored by PETA.
