Marc Bouwer NEW YORK, Feb 2, 2007 / FW --- Sponsored by PETA, Marc Bouwer philosophically entitled his collection ‘Imitation Is Life’ then opened with an ankle-length faux fur to make his point clear.

In fact, the first three exits in his collection were winter coats all made without animal skin of course. But, that was the end of his political statement because what followed were over 40 pieces of red carpet gowns and dresses, with a definite overture to the upcoming Oscars.

Seemingly divided into three groupings, the first part was a series of black mini dresses and gowns that were actually all eveningwear. From the sequined sleeveless shift to the balloon skirts, empire and corset-inspired gowns, Marc Bouwer made sure that his ladies are svelte and sexy at the same time.

The same formula was repeated in the next two groupings – the second group created with the rich hues of red and blues while the third group featured pastels.

There was no definitive silhouette as Bouwer jumped from slim to bulky, while he emphasized either the shoulder or the waist. Still, it cannot be denied that the Hollywood glitterati have a lot to choose from come Oscar Week!
