Sep 4, 2002/ FW/ --- It's a trip down memory lane at the Mascharka Spring 2003 show
held last night.
Think of the beach... think of the 1970s when tie-dyed t-shirts are popular.
As the models paraded on the runway, one could not help but think of the days after Woodstock.
The "kids" during those days are now the "parents" of the internet generation.
Imagine the look on the "parents" faces when their kids start wearing the same shirts they
wore 30 years ago.
And if they kept their tie-dyed shirts, they can even go to the beach together, the "parent"
wearing vintage, the "kid" wearing a shirt off the runway.
There were several pieces which is more in tune with the 2000s like the black leather jacket
and the gray waist-cropped jacket.
Still casual in look, it will look great during those cool spring nights for a night
out in town.
The pants are tight (remember those very tight jeans during the 1970s?); if you have
over 2% body fat, you will definitely feel it.
I just wonder who will wear the "see-through" black pants wherein everyone can see the
underwear the man is wearing.
If someone wears it at the beach, just make sure that there is a sunscreen with a minimum
of SPF 30 readily available because the wearer will surely not get any UV protection from the
clothes.
With a little less than 30 ensembles shown, this is a very tight debut collection for Mascharka.
The designer did not lose focus with the tie-dyed shirt and the 1970s feel of the show.
If you are a late baby-boomer or an early generation X, you will surely find yourself thinking
of the 'good ole days' with this collection.
For the internet generation, it's time to discover the centuries-old art of tie-dying which
never lost its popularity in Bali where it started.
