NEW YORK, Feb 3, 2005/ FW/ – Tradition meets functional sportswear with a twist for the Nautica 2005/06 autumn winter collection.
Downtown in the heartland of this trend setting metropolis in a bar decked out like the inside of a luxurious yacht, the perfect setting for the brand who has a sail as its logo, Nautica showed off its five tier wardrobe for the contemporary active gentleman.
Crew, Dress Blues, Town or Country, Highland and Competition, come together to create a total look for an energetic all round lifestyle.
From the university traditions of rowing in bold colours, to the nine to five classics where neat tailoring meets the necessity for clothes to move. Like the pinstriped wool jackets that are layered over casual zip tops and worn with a tie and the jeans that appear used and comfortable.
Or then again maybe its the fall colors and the light filtering through the trees immortalized via dress, where orange and brown, ecru and mustard, form tweeds and herringbone leaving a plush desire for the cold to come quickly, just to wear the warmth.
Gentlemanly elegance has traces of the English, through cricket whites and sportive morale, whether it be sailing or college rugby.
But there is always the need for a good battle, and it comes from the desperate male desire for competition, and there is no better place than on the sporting field. The active and authentic look is ‘designed to perform and look great what ever you’re doing’.
Soft-luxe and deliciously selected fabric makes this wardrobe both technically innovative and functional. The sportive chic for Nautica next season goes beyond the sailing ritual, but instead becomes a uniform for a way of life any vigorous man could wish for.
