Jun 30, 2002/FW/ --- Celebrating Nautica's 20th anniversary this year, David Chu
decided to show this season in Milan, instead of New York.
Two decades of design evolution, refining and defining his signature style,
David Chu choice the ocean as his inspiration for this season's collection.
A logical choice, with a label named "Nautica" which connote water.
Dividing the collection into three groups, it was all about being on the water -
the ocean, the gulf, the rivers of the world.
The first group of vintage Nautica look was a logical place to start for the
20th anniversary collection.
Taking his inspiration from the blue sky and turquoise sea, David Chu sent
beautiful white cotton-linen blend denim-cut five-pocket pants paired with a micro-terry
two-button shirt or a sexy striped rib sweater.
Utility and style was the main theme of the second group which was used khaki, black
and red as the main color palette.
Advanced technical fabrications blend traditional cotton with nylon for a performance feel.
The third group was all about swimwear, and a surfer's delight. Vibrant colors from orange
to green dominated this group.
Capturing the spirit of youthful energy, David Chu has breathed new life with his reinvention
of his own signature style.
