Olivera Savic: "Deliverance"
Photos by: Edward James
Apr 25, 2002/ FW/ --- Bosnian-native Olivera Savic's fall 2002 collection, entitled
"Deliverance", pays homage to early 20th century styling and remembrances from the past.
Giving a nod to the "Bohemian" trend that hit New York, Paris, London and Milan, the designer
opened with a black cotton 3/4 circle skirt with dusty-blue blouse follllowed bu a denim
3/4 circle skirt with dusty blue blouse.
"Savic strove for femininity, mainly through textile and detail," wrote Doris Montanera,
reviewer for TFI.
Creatively mixing and matching different fabrics - denim, camel wool, cashmere, faux fur
and stretch fabric, the designer created different textures throughout the whole collection.
"The textures give women a new character," says Savic. "I wanted feminine and sophisticated,
but chic styling."
And chic it was...
There was very little embellishments used in the clothes, detailing and workmanship were
key to this collection.
The most memorable piece is the black stretch pant with brown "fur" jacket -
which can easily be a staple in a woman's wardrobe.
It can go anywhere - from the office, to a weekend out of town, even to an early dinner with
friends.
Very wearable debut collection.
