New York, April 15, 2002/ FWD/ --- Henri Bendel of the brown-and-white-stripes got a
serious splash of color last night as the store feted the opening of its House of Field
boutique.
Guests in glittered bikinis, boas, and barely there dresses frolicked in the new shop
as scantily clad dancers writhed among the crowd -- in a word, it was a typical Pat Field event.
"I hope it's successful -- I don't want to disappoint anyone," said Field, cocktail in one
hand and cigarette in the other.
From the looks of the crowd, which also included guests from a less flamboyant fashion
faction, Field has nothing to worry about.
Since its launch last September, Field's fun-loving label has garnered as many fans as
her work as costumer for "Sex and the City."
The night was a serious knees-up.
Music blasted, bars were dotted throughout the store -- and one of the dancers would
periodically wrap her legs around her neck.
"Sex and the City" creator Darren Star was on hand to enjoy the spectacle.
"I love Pat's edginess and the spirit she brings to her creations," he told FWD.
And as for "Sex and the City" star Sarah Jessica Parker's recent pregnancy announcement,
he said, "I am not quite sure how we will handle Sarah's pregnancy yet in the series, but
we're working on it at the moment. We're all thrilled for her."
Fellow cast members Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon also attended the bash.
Cattrall, decked out in House of Field jeans and a pink animal-print zippered top,
happily advertised her love for the rambunctious designer: "She puts a smile on my face
every time."
