NEW YORK, Sep 8, 2004 / FW -- Rain or shine, the show must go on. Even with the rain on the opening day, Perry Ellis packed both the women's and the men's presentation of its Spring 2005 collection.

For the women's, all the models were lined up looking beautiful with their hair all in frizzed up curls that also gave them that girly innocent look.

Ruche silk chiffon skirt, shorts with layers of tiny lace ruffles, A-line skirt with asymmetrical hemline and one adorned with feathers were included in the collection. These pieces were widely seen with cummerbund style waistband with a neatly tied bow (centered in the front, a little to the side and centered on the back).

And let's not forget the well-tailored pants with long lines in solid and stripes that is so Perry Ellis.

Also highlighted was a 3/4 length silk ruffled chiffon dress with a bustier style bodice and lace up tie in the front. Then, there is the bustier top in turquoise green, this one laced up on the back that can sure give women that even curvier effect or look that they so long for.

Around the neck and fingers are bold accessories that worked quite well with the entire collection. Open toed stilettos also gave the collection that 50's look.

The Perry Ellis women's collection is a must have come Spring 2005 for the budding fashionista.

As for the Perry Ellis men's Spring 2005 collection, Jerry Kaye, the International Brand Creative Director, showed enthusiasm as he talked to FW backstage before the show.

He wanted to revitalize the sportswear series with an even more tailored look that men of all ages should be able to wear.

Perry Ellis is ageless and hence created for a lifestyle choice and Jerry Kaye was successful in creating that timeless look that men have been after for years.

Perry Ellis allows the simplicity in dressing up or dressing down. These everyday wardrobe items continue to have simple elegance and are reminiscent of old Hollywood chic. The new collection is in fact is a reworked version of the Perry Ellis signature collection from seasons past.

With importance given to tailoring refined detail and fabric choice along with the careful attention to limited accessories not going overboard.

The white cotton denim jean and trousers as well as the khaki cotton/viscose ottoman trouser are good examples of matching up with either a v-neck sweater, crew neck sweater or a mesh knit collar snap shirt. Then add a notch collar two-button blazer or a tan printed check leather jacket.

Well refined tailoring with the attention to details becomes the key element to this menswear collection that is classic Perry Ellis.
