LONDON, Feb 21, 2004/ FW/ – A dainty do-gooder girl is Stuart Stockdale’s idea of what modern females are missing and will therefore wish to turn into by next fall as he marched out traditional argyle check cashmere sweaters and cardigans onto the London catwalk last week.
Pants are tailored and fit tightly to the leg, pinned and cropped under the knee, a Scottish heritage move or perhaps a search for old values and properness?
The looks are sellable enough and perfect for those English countryside weekends away, or trip to the cricket field.
Dresses are finished with mini ruffles around the hem and come in colours that are reminiscent to some of drab English weather, or to others of pale English elegance like apricot and pale grey beige.
Pringle kilt skirts still look better on Stockdales men rather than women, but this is perhaps a cultural question rather than fashion rule.
Wrap around cardigans and little halter neck cashmere numbers are sweet and pretty, but if pearls are not exactly your thing, then you may have to look elsewhere for something to wear, though the little fur bomber jackets are delightful and bright like the maxi suede bags.
Velvet, fur and cashmere. Elegance, style and class, Pringle together with Stockdale continues to put together collections that despite tradition are nonetheless modern and graceful.
