MILAN, Jan 12, 3004/ FW/ --- A backdrop purely Braveheart style, Stag in all its glory, a Scottish heritage made urban as Pringle of Scotland goes directly to its roots for the autumn winter collection 2004.
The message: Tradition and Strength.
A regal collection, not only in design, but also through craftsmanship reminiscent of the aristocratic world that is today often denied but remembered with longing and nostalgia --- Bagpipes and elegance.
Lightly snobbishness is a plus, heavy winter kilts are bought to the streets and the recollection of hunting season across the Atlantic is made trendy and fashionable as men dress in large woollen jackets and oversize cardigans and sweaters.
Stockdale incorporates the trademark argyle check knits with sportive elements such as functional elastic waists and jodhpur style trousers.
The optical motif that appears on tweed coats and pants is sometimes slightly overdone, but the orchestrated sounds excuse any chancing the label feels it needs to make in order to follow trends.
Accessorized waistcoats full of pockets and zips are the forte in the largely earthy collection. Fabrics such as cashmere and lambs wool, colours in shades of grey, beige, pinks and blues and the majestic prints are all chosen with cure and taste.
Pringle of Scotland with Stockdale at the helm makes maxi chic and the authentic ancestral persists in homage to the 120 years worth of experience that the cashmere manufacturers have under their belt.
